7. Community reviews & reputation

Source Summary Link
r/TechnicalArtist "Technical artist course? (Vertex school course opinion)" A graduate: "I just finished Vertex School's technical art bootcamp. Pretty good experience — a nice combination of art and technical." https://www.reddit.com/r/TechnicalArtist/comments/1opznpj/
r/gamedev "Vertex school" "Their feedback is awesome… definitely worth it." https://www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/comments/s1kevn/vertex_school
r/3Dmodeling "Question about Vertex School" Critical: mediocre value for money (mainly about the art track) reddit.com/r/3Dmodeling (search "Vertex School")
Trustpilot ~4 stars (12 reviews) https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.vertexschool.com
Official student stories Students highlight mentor feedback, community and flexibility alongside full-time jobs see blog sections 2.1/2.2

Summary: the tech art bootcamp is rated better than the general art tracks; the core value is mentor feedback + community + portfolio focus; skeptics note much of it can be self-taught.

8. Official channels directory

Appendix: how to use these resources (against the syllabus)

  1. Before enrolling: watch both Open Day replays (1.1) + the "Choosing Your Tech Art Path" post → decide TAP (12 months) vs TAB (18 weeks).
  2. Prep programming: finish all 6 modules of the free Coding for Creatives (maps to Bootcamp weeks 1–2 and Term 3 tooling).
  3. Prep shaders: The Book of Shaders ch. 1–10 + Shadertoy exercises (Term 2's noise/polar/SDF topics).
  4. During the program: pull official live replays (1.4) for your current term; for Term 4 prioritize SideFX Labs tutorials and the GDC cases.
  5. Portfolio stage: study the capstones in 6.1 — "one small, reliable tool + complete engine integration" beats "a big scene" for TA hiring expectations.
